‘When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.' — Jimi Hendrix

This belief in empathy and understanding guides my work as an aspiring journalist and photojournalist. I seek a world of connection and shared humanity, and achieving this begins with first acknowledging the disparities that divide us. Capturing life’s unfiltered realities is therefore one of the most vital endeavors in an age where many voices go unheard, news is often biased, and injustices are too easily censored by mainstream media. Consequently, The Mind Alcove is a space where, through direct correspondence with professionals around the world and methodical research, global conflicts are analyzed, the work of humanitarian organizations is amplified, and individual voices are given a platform. Through my exploration of photojournalism, I aim to further emphasize how visual storytelling can serve as a medium for change just as much as the written word.

At its heart, this site is devoted to one pursuit I believe lies at the foundation of journalism: understanding. From global issues to personal experiences, from the lives of great authors to the quiet stories in between, it is in the desire to understand that we connect — an essential step to preventing conflict; if neglected, ignorance and the categorization of others will continue to inevitably fuel an unforgiving cycle of fragmentation and social unrest.
